Australia Day 2012 ......................................................................................

Australia Day is the celebration day of Australia becoming a nation and is one of the major events on the Sydney Harbour Calendar. The Harbour is filled with all boats alike to be a part of the exciting festivities. The major events on Sydney Harbour for the day are below. (Scroll down to see cruise options)

Body Science Great Aussie Swim
Time: 8:30am - 10:00am at Farm Cove Sydney Opera House

Swimmers compete in the final ocean swim of the inaugural Body Science Great Australia Swim Series. Watch as they compete in several swimming events such as the 2.5 km swim, 750 splash, Junior Kids 300m swim, and other fun events "Anything Goes" and "Dash for Cash"

Ferrython
Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm

The four well known green and yellow ferrys of Sydney Harbour will race against each other from Circular Quay to Shark Island before crossing the finish line under the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Best Dressed Vessel
Time: 11:00am - 2:00pm

Best Dressed Vessel Judges will be out on Sydney Harbour from the start of the Ferrython (11am) through to 2pm

Great prizes are up for grabs for the finalists of the first 5 categories. $500 cash will be awarded to the winners of the first 5 categories:
1. Best Dressed Overall
2. Best Dressed Small boat (up to 6 metres)
3. Most Original Theme
4. Best Flag Display
5. Best Charter Boat
6. Best Working Boat

The winners of the Best Dressed Vessel competition will be announced at the Sydney Ports Jazz on the Water concert in the evening.

Awesome Forces - Australian Army 21 Gun Salute
Time: 12:00pm - 12:15pm

To commemorate the federation of our nation, the 23rd Field Regiment Royal Australian Artillery will fire a 21 gun salute from Mrs. Macquaries Point, The Domain.

Awesome Forces - Search and Rescue Display
Time: 12:15pm
at Farm Cove and 12:45pm at Athol Bay

See the Royal Australian Navy’s Dive Team perform a series of search and rescue displays at Farm Cove.



Tall Ships Race
Time: 1:15pm - 6:00pm

The 176th Australia Day Regatta, the world's oldest continuously-conducted annual sailing regatta, will take place throughout the afternoon, with events for all classes of yachts and 18 foot skiffs.

Awesome Forces - Royal Australia Air Forces
Time: 2:00pm - 2:15pm

The F/A-18 Hornet is a mulity-role fighter designed for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.

Look to the sky for the spectacular flyovers of the FA/18 at 2.00pm You’ll hear them coming but they’re fast so be ready!

Sydney Ports Jazz on the Water Concert
Time: 3:00pm - 9:00pm

Audiences on and off shore will be able to enjoy great jazz performances held at Pyrmont Point Park and Johnstons Bay. Enjoy a relaxed friendly atmosphere with bands and live entertainment and a licensed bar for a cool celebratory drink.
